How to Keep up a Blog...or not

My biggest hope with starting a blog is that people (like you!) would get a glimpse into life here. But my biggest fear is that I wouldn't keep up with it. Life here through my eyes just seems so hum-drum sometimes. We have a semi-routine, which includes a bit of language class, making flashcards, flipping through flashcards, writing out some sentences, making 3 meals, and catching up on e-mails. Nothing about this seems very noteworthy, so it's tempting to not share any of it.

I also have no desire to turn this into an "I'm-going-to-pour-my-heart-out-for-everyone-to-see" blog. No thank you. We'll see if that ever changes.

I'm trying to think of things that you would be interested in knowing/seeing. Hopefully they would be things that can be handled with words since pictures take crazy-long to upload (I think that the 5 pictures from last time took about 45 minutes). That, and I'm really not good about taking my camera out and about.

So...any topic suggestions??? Comment or e-mail and I'll see what can be put together for you!

  1. I too share your sentiments about blogging. I try to update a couple times a month, but usually only with things that are "going on." Otherwise, we have the same humdrum and i'm not pouring my heart out either. Unlike you though, I can upload pics. All that being said, I like what you're doing and have enjoyed your blogs so far. I think your blogs have been great glimpses into differences there. Keep doing that. Talk about words you've learned or something funny that happened. I know right now these may be few and far between, but eventually I'm sure you'll have plenty of things to share. Tell us about a day "shopping" at the market or something. I want to know about life there :)
In other words, keep up the good work. Miss and love you!

  2. I like what Autumn said! I'm still trying to picture your bazaar. Indoor/outdoor. Stands close together? And maybe teach us some of the words you're learning. Love you and love your blog!!

  3. In one of your very early updates something was said about having some clothes made. Like what? Also, what are your typical outside temperatures these days? How many hours of daylight? How deep is the snow? Can you pack it for a snowman or snowball fight? If the latter, who wins? I must tell you that I LOVED your "favorite things" entry ... so like you to see the bright, positive little things!! Reminds me of some of your newsletters from several years ago. Ditto Vicky's last sentence!
